NIA Raids 16 Places in Tamil Nadu in Connection With a Case of ISIS Radicalization

India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been looking into cases of brainwashing and recruitment to ISIS in many Indian states.

In an ISIS radicalization case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched 16 places in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The searches have been going on since early Tuesday based on certain information.

Sources close to the situation told that the searches being done at the hideouts of suspects are meant to find proof about people who are spreading ISIS ideas and recruiting new members.

In several Indian states, the NIA has been actively looking into cases of radicalization and recruiting to ISIS.

This is a new case that was filed last year against people who supported ISIS and whose part was found during an investigation.

On October 21, 2018, the NIA nabbed three people who were linked to the October 2022 ISIS-inspired car bomb blast in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The NIA’s research into the case showed that the three people who were arrested worked together to get money for the terrorist act. Four people were arrested and charged by the NIA in a different case that had something to do with radicalization.
