The seizure took place on Friday while conducting a search in the Pechi Chinglak foothills where security personnel conducted the area domination and search operations.

IMPHAL: Security forces in the Thoubal district of Manipur confiscated a cache of weapons and ammunition, according to a police statement released on Saturday. A search conducted in the Pechi Chinglak foothills led to this seizure on Friday.

Security personnel carried out the area domination and search operations in the vulnerable and outlying parts of the valley and hill districts.

One magazine-equipped SMG carbine, three hand grenades, two tube launchers, four live rounds of ammunition, five 9 mm magazines, 26 empty cases, one bayonet, two arming rings, and a Baofeng radio set with a charger were among the goods found during the operation. These were discovered in the Thoubal district’s Pechi Chinglak slopes, close to Culvert.

Furthermore, it has been guaranteed that 244 and 296 cars transporting necessary goods will travel along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively. All susceptible areas have strict security measures in place, and security convoys are available in critical areas to guarantee the safe and unhindered flow of vehicles.

Overall, 106 checkpoints have been set up throughout Manipur’s several districts, both in the valleys and the hills. In relation to infractions in various state districts, no one was taken into custody by the police.

Recently, after the Manipur government declared that public buses would once again run from the state capital Imphal to this district and towards Bishnupur and Churachandpur, civil society organisations representing the Kuki tribes of Manipur in Kangpokpi called for a district shutdown.

To stop the government’s attempt to reopen public transit, Kuki tribe members congregated at Gamgiphai, the main thoroughfare connecting Kangpokpi and Imphal West district.
