31st Imphal Book Fair inaugurated

Imphal, Dec 15: The 31st Imphal Book Fair was inaugurated today in a ceremony held at the Auditorium of the State Central Library, Imphal. Organized by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata, the event aims to promote reading culture and intellectual engagement in the region.
The 31st Imphal Book Fair is a celebration of literature and knowledge. The inaugural function was graced by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, Canchipur, as the Chief Guest. M. Joy Singh, IAS, Commissioner of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, presided over the event, while L. Radhakanta Singh, MCS, Director of Language Planning and Implementation, Government of Manipur, attended as the Guest of Honour.
In his address, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh emphasized the transformative power of books and libraries in shaping societies and fostering knowledge. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the state government in organizing the book fair, which serves as a platform to bring together readers, authors, and publishers.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from bibliophiles, students, and local residents. The book fair will feature a wide range of books from diverse genres, catering to readers of all ages and interests.

The 31st edition of the Imphal Book Fair which opens today will conclude on December 24.
