The Kuki-Zo Council Has Requested the Withdrawal of State Forces in Response to an Alleged Assault on Women

According to the KZC, the violence began on December 23 and 24, when forces from the valley allegedly began firing towards Kuki-Zo areas

Guwahati: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), an organization that advocates for the Kuki-Zo community, has issued a statement in which it alleges that the Meitei state forces and armed groups perpetrated “inhumane and brutal” attacks on unsuspecting Kuki-Zo women in Saibol, Kangpokpi District. In the event that their demands are not met, the Council has threatened to impose an indefinite economic blockade on National Highway 29 and has called for the urgent withdrawal of state forces from the area.
