Jan 6, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said 26 Myanmarese who had infiltrated India across the state border were deported back to their native country.
Singh further mentioned that his government is dedicated to oppose unlawful immigration.
“A group of 26 Myanmar nationals, who entered India via Manipur’s porous border, were deported to their home country today,” the chief minister said in an X post.
Singh also said the state government “reaffirms its commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to those fleeing war, ensuring their care and dignified departure”.
“But the state keeps a strong opposition to letting illegal immigrants stay back in Manipur,” the chief minister remarked.
Officials claimed officials of the state police and the central forces in Moreh border town turned over the foreigners to the authorities of Myanmar.
