Assam Rifles Seizes Large Contraband Load in Counter-Smuggling Success

Assam Rifles has recovered 10,320 kg of illicit Areca Nuts valued at almost Rs 72.24 Lakhs in the Zote area of Champhai district in a major win against the smuggling threat. An official news statement states that the January 4 operation was a joint effort between the Customs Preventive Force.

The Customs Preventive Force received the whole contraband consignment to be used for more legal action. Constant smuggling still presents a major issue for both India and Mizoram, which are still developing.

Celebrated as the “Sentinels of Northeast,” Assam Rifles has stepped up its fight against illicit trade. Under a coordinated operation by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Manipur Police on January 5, 42 guns, ammunition, and war supplies were collected from different areas of Manipur, so highlighting continuous efforts to destroy smuggling networks.
