The Indian Army reportedly rescued eight civilians from a traffic accident in Kangpokpi district. The accident happened late Monday in Khunku Naga hamlet in the Leimakhong district, according to the PRO Defense.
The head of Henjang village stated that an eight-person truck lost control and crashed down a deep valley near Khunku Naga village, according to the statement.
An army rescue squad was immediately deployed to the accident scene, where the injured civilians were rescued and transported to a military hospital. Army physicians provided them with first aid and trauma care, according to a statement made on Wednesday by the PRO.
Meanwhile, a joyous picnic outing turned fatal for a group of young doctors last month when their vehicle was involved in a terrible accident on the national highway in Assam.
The event occurred in Upper Assam’s Bokakhat on the evening of December 27, as three junior female doctors from Jorhat Medical College and Hospital were returning from a picnic and traveling to Dergaon.
The physicians’ vehicle crashed with a truck, injuring all three. The crash created havoc on the highway, with passersby running to assist the victims.
In a lucky twist of fate, Assam Minister Atul Bora was going along the same route when the accident occurred. When he saw the heartbreaking scene, he halted his caravan and offered urgent assistance. The minister personally assured that the injured doctors were quickly transported to a neighboring hospital for treatment.
