After Months of Ethnic Bloodshed, Manipur Starts an Effort to Get Its Economy Back on Track

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced the launch of an economic revival mission in the violence-hit northeastern state, aiming to restore stability and economic growth after months of ethnic unrest.

Manipur’s chief minister, N Biren Singh, revealed the start of an economic revival mission in the northeastern state that has been hit by violence. The goal is to bring stability and growth back to the economy after months of ethnic unrest. Singh talked about the work being done to give people the information and skills they need to make a living at a state-level workshop on the UNNATI and Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) schemes that took place at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.

NGOs are helping to carry out the economic recovery mission, which was set up by the state’s planning department. Volunteers have been sent to teach people in the area modern farming, gardening, and marketing skills so that they can use these hobbies as profitable businesses.

Singh used gardening for potatoes, mushrooms, and fruits as examples of how volunteers are teaching farmers useful skills as part of a project called “The Chief Minister Economic Revival Mission.”

Singh said, “These efforts are meant to make sure that people get the right information they need to turn their activities into sustainable businesses.” He also said that the mission has already started to show good results in different parts of the state.

Singh also talked about how important the UNNATI and RAMP Schemes are because they will help companies and business owners in the state by giving them money. The goal of these programs is to help Manipur’s economy get back on its feet and give businesses a chance to grow.

The Chief Minister talked about the recent racial violence that has been happening in the state since May 2023 and has killed over 250 people and forced thousands to leave their homes. He reaffirmed that his government is committed to restoring peace and unity. He asked the people of Manipur to back political and diplomatic attempts to solve important problems.

“We must also be at fault.” Things are not going well in the state. But thanks to the work and teamwork of many, things are mostly back to normal. Let’s hope things get back to normal soon. Without walls between the valley and the hills, let’s make peace again. Each of us is a Manipuri. “All of us are Indian,” Singh said.

Singh said that the recent bombing in Imphal West’s Kangchup Phayeng area was sad but not widespread, pointing out that the state had been mostly peaceful for the past five to six months. “Police are investigating the incident and will take necessary legal actions,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s renewed focus on restoring the economy and promoting peace shows that his government is determined to lead Manipur toward security and growth after a time of chaos.
