The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, said that the state has the most Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) business registrations in the northeastern area.
Singh said that the 2018-19 Annual Report of the Ministry of MSME says that between 2015 and 2019, the state logged 12,438 MSME businesses.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction, the chief minister said, the northeast is going to become the Growth Engine of New India.
Singh said that the people of Manipur are very business-minded: “The state has 12,438 MSME businesses, the highest number in the northeast between 2015 and 2019.” Women own 50% of these businesses.
He said that 0.2% of the people in the country are from Manipur and that 0.3% of MSME companies are in the state.
Singh stated that since it was formed in 2017, the BJP-led state government has done many things to help Manipur grow.
The goal of the One Family One Livelihood purpose is to help families get the money they need to start their own businesses and become self-sufficient. He said this at the state-level workshop on UNNATI and RAMP schemes on Thursday. Under the scheme, people can get loans of up to Rs 10,000,000 with no security, and 30% of the loan is given as a grant.
The CM said that the Manipur State Credit Guarantee Scheme has helped about 2,575 business owners.
Singh said that the government wants young people to take advantage of these chances.
He said that seven successful start-ups in Manipur have given jobs to about 300 people who have been forced to leave their homes.
Small businesses have trouble because they don’t have enough expert help or knowledge, the chief minister said.
He also told banks to quickly give approved loan amounts to businesses and told borrowers to make sure they paid back their loans on time so they wouldn’t be turned down for future loans.
