A half-holiday has been declared for today in all schools by the Manipur government. In honour of lawmaker N. Kayisii, who died following a protracted illness, this decision was made, according to an official statement. At the age of 58, Kayisii, the Senapati district’s Tadubi MLA, passed away on Saturday. The directive states that as of 1 pm today, January 20, 2025, all government offices and educational institutions would be shuttered.
“The governor of Manipur is pleased to declare a half-holiday on 20th January 2025 from 1 pm for all offices and educational institutions under the government of Manipur as a mark of respect to the memory of (Late) N. Kayisii,” stated the statement. Additionally, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed his condolences for Kayisii’s passing.
Who was N Kayisii?
One significant player in Manipur politics was N Kayisii. He represented Manipur’s Tadubi constituency in the Legislative Assembly (MLA) during the time. Since March of 2021, he has been the state’s National People’s Party (NPP) president. From 2017 until 2020, he also served as Minister for Fisheries and the Department of Tribal and Hill Areas. As an NPP representative, he was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2017 and then again in 2022.
