Imphal: Police confirmed on Tuesday that two militants were apprehended in distinct operations in the Thoubal and Imphal West districts of Manipur.
According to them, on Monday, a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibangnganba) was apprehended at the Waithou-Thiyam IVR in Thoubal.
He was identified as Sapam Paikhomba Meitei (26), they added.
Police reported that they confiscated a wireless handset and six 9 mm live cartridges from him.
A 32-year-old member of the proscribed KCP (MFL) was apprehended in Thongju Pechulampak Pukhri, located in the Imphal West district. “He was identified as Samom Davidson Meitei, also known as Loya,” they stated.
Police stated that he was accused of extorting the proprietors of shops situated in and around the Singjamei-Thongju area.
