Manipur Celebrates Martyrs’ Day to Respect Liberation Fighters

Manipur commemorated Martyrs' Day, marking Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary, with significant participation from the state's leadership, including Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

Manipur paid tribute to the courageous martyrs who gave their lives for India’s freedom. The Martyrs’ Day, also referred to as Sarvodaya Day or Shaheed Diwas.

Under great state leadership, the somber event took place at Gandhi Memorial Hall in Imphal.

Today is especially significant since it celebrates the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Leading the congregation in paying tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, governor of Manipur, was the main guest at the ceremony.

Attending the occasion alongside his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, and top government officials, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also emphasized the unity in commemorating those who battled for the freedom of the nation.
