Arunachal To Host Fourth Edition Of Eaglenest Bird Festival To Celebrate Biodiversity and Conservation

Arunachal Pradesh will host the fourth edition of the Eaglenest Bird Festival from January 17-19, showcasing the region's biodiversity, eco-tourism, and community conservation efforts.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh will host the fourth edition of the ‘Eaglenest Bird Festival’ from January 17-19 at Khellong and Thongre villages in the West Kameng district. The Eaglenest Bird Festival, recognized as a key annual event in the state, highlights Arunachal Pradesh’s natural beauty and rich biodiversity.

Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister took to social media, stating, “Plan a trip to Arunachal Pradesh this New Year to experience its incredible biodiversity and join hands in fostering community-driven efforts to conserve the region’s wildlife and ecosystems.”

“Explore Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in West Kameng district, home to some of the rarest bird species and endangered wildlife that make this sanctuary a true natural gem,” Mein added.

The festival’s new logo was recently unveiled by Chief Minister Pema Khandu during the grand finale of the 4th Mon Sergyeling & Mon Rigzung Sergyeling festival in Tawang. This year’s festival will highlight the region’s rich biodiversity, while promoting sustainable eco-tourism and community-led conservation efforts.

The festival will include the announcement of a trail that follows the historic route of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This trail is significant not only for its cultural importance but also for its spiritual relevance, emphasizing the deep connection between nature and the spiritual heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

The festival will feature the inauguration of the Eco Bio-Diversity Park, which will house a tree planted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his visit in 1959. The festival will also include the Birdathon, a popular event for birdwatching enthusiasts, celebrating the region’s rich avian diversity.

Adventure trekking events will be organized, giving visitors the chance to explore the region’s beautiful and pristine landscapes while promoting eco-tourism. The Eaglenest Bird Festival has gained significant importance over the years, becoming a major event for both local communities and tourists.
