ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Thursday interacted with gaon buras, ex-servicemen and farmers from Jang in Tawang district, at Raj Bhavan here.
The interaction programme was a part of the first-ever spiritual tour for 22 senior villagers hailing from the remote Indo-Tibet border districts of Tawang and West Kameng, conducted by the 18 Sikh Light Infantry under the aegis of 4 Corps.
Praising the Indian Army for organizing the tour, Parnaik said such initiative would further strengthen the bonhomie between the armed forces and the local population.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit. The governor advised the villagers to share the positive experience of the tour, including the religious aspects with other villagers and uphold their religious vibrancy. He also advised them to practice the good ideas they had learned during the tour with a positive attitude.
He urged the gaon buras to assume new roles and responsibilities, saying they have to promote education, better health, hygiene, cleanliness, and especially the waste disposal at the village level. The governor asked the village elders to promote, protect and conserve the natural environment for a safe future and also advised on natural farming.
Earlier, coordinating officer Lt Col Om Prakash Prasad briefed the governor about the tour, which started on January 10 last under Operation Sadbhavana.
