GUWAHATI: Acclaimed director Rima Das will make a comeback at the esteemed Berlinale International Film Festival with ‘Village Rockstars 2’, her latest project. The 75th edition of the festival, which will take place from February 13 to February 25, 2025, will mark the European debut of the follow-up to her numerous award-winning movie Village Rockstars.
Village Rockstars 2 will participate in the Generation 14 Plus category, a special section focused on films for children and youth. In a statement, Das shared her excitement for the festival and said she was looking forward to going back to Berlin.
“It’s a beautiful festival with amazing audiences, and I love the winter mist,” she said.
“After the overwhelming response from esteemed film festivals in Asia, we are excited to engage with new audiences. It feels like completing a full circle,” she added.
Das took into account the comments received on Village Rockstars 2, which she called her most emotional project till date. “So far, I’m really happy with the feedback on the film. Many people have told me they find Village Rockstars 2 my most emotional work yet. We’re heading to Berlin with hope and excitement, eager to explore new possibilities,” she said.
The movie chronicles the journey of a teenage girl who, in spite of the harsh realities of life, never gives up on her musical goals. The film, which is set in a quaint village, follows the protagonist’s emotional and transformational journey as she rediscovers the closer connection between life and music.
