Gyalshing, Jan. 4: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay arrived as the Chief Guest at the ongoing Nam-Aal-Namsoong festival in Gangyap, Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, on Saturday. The festival is being held at the Gangyap public ground and is a significant cultural event for the Lepcha population.
The Gyalshing district police presented the Chief Minister with a Guard of Honour as part of the customary welcome upon his arrival. Cabinet ministers, members of parliament, chairpersons, the Deputy Commissioner of Gyalshing, and other officials accompanied him.
In order to highlight the community’s rich legacy, CM Tamang-Golay visited a number of traditional kiosks that displayed Lepcha indigenous cuisine, traditional attire, and cultural artefacts.
To commemorate the abundant harvest, the Lepcha tribe celebrates Nam-Aal-Namsoong, a major harvest festival. At the main stage, there were cultural performances and other celebrations throughout the day.
Earlier, the local community and the Gyalshing district administration extended a hearty greeting to the Chief Minister at the Rangit bridge entry point to Yuksam-Tashiding.
