AGARTALA: The foundation stone of a planned 200-bed de-addiction and rehab centre in addition to a proposed circuit house building of transport department was laid down by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha in the Bisramganj area that falls under Sephahijala district.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone soon after his arrival from Delhi. CM Saha, accompanied by BJP State President Rajeev Bhattacharjee, had travelled to Delhi to meet the party’s top leadership and have a final consultation over the appointment of ten BJP district presidents.

CM Saha also addressed the public and highlighted the adverse effects of drug abuse and asserted the state government’s commitment to overcome it. He also participated in the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ritual which was part of the foundation laying ceremony.

The Chief Minister stressed that curbing drug addiction and peddling requires more than government efforts, including police and security forces. He highlighted the need for societal and familial awareness, urging a united fight against the drug menace.

CM Saha justified launching a de-addiction and rehab center in Sepahijala, citing it as the state’s worst-affected district. He emphasized Bisramganj’s strategic location at the trijunction of roads leading to Gomati, South Tripura, and the Sonamura border, making it a key area for intervention.

This significance also led to establishing a transport department circuit house in Bisramganj to bolster administrative infrastructure.
